Tarheel Tales of Terror, Vol. 1 was a collaborative project between myself and Jeremy Clos, a longtime friend and collaborator from the historic reenactment community. A few years prior to this project, we put on the stories from Vol. 1 and several other pieces of North Carolina folklore as a piece of dinner theater and had a great time with it, so when Jeremy approached me about creating a comics project from some of the folktales I was immediately onboard. Jeremy and I co-wrote the script adaptation of the stories, and then I created the artwork while he managed our Kickstarter campaign! Below are excerpts from the two stories we adapted.
